The nice thing about this lower level is the high ceilings. Technically it’s below the main floor so you could call it a basement. However it doesn’t feel like it! The high ceilings and expansive floor plan qualify as a ‘level’ and it’s just ‘lower’ lol.
So we call it both. Sometimes it’s the Lower Level, but othertimes it’s the Basement.
The full bath was a museum of 1978 colors and materials. While it’s not a big room, it had all the shades of beige you would expect. We took all that out and replaced with materials and colors that fit this mid-century modern house, and the overall theme we’ve been applying.
Here’s a picture of the original bathroom.

New Bathroom
We removed the vanity, bathtub and shower tile, and adjusted the lighting to be modern LED cans. The old lighting was fluorescent tubes behind plastic egg grate mesh.
Here is a picture of the new counter, sink, lighting, and mirror, followed by a picture of the shower basin, tile floor, tile surround, rainfall shower head and glass shower panel.

Needless to say the room feels entirely different, modern, and refreshed! It’s a nice improvement to the lower level.
